New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner acknowledges that India’s experience on the Dubai pitch could be an advantage in the Champions Trophy 2025 final. However, he remains confident in his team’s ability to adapt and compete in the high-stakes encounter on March 9 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The Black Caps arrived in Dubai on Thursday evening, ready to face a formidable Indian side. Since India has played all its games at this venue, New Zealand understands the challenge ahead.
“Since they have competed in all their matches in Dubai, they possess deep familiarity with the playing conditions. Naturally, the surface will influence our approach,” Santner stated upon arriving in Dubai.
Historically, Dubai’s pitch has played on the slower side, favoring spinners and making stroke-making difficult. New Zealand, after competing in Lahore, must quickly adjust to these conditions.
“It might be slightly slower compared to the conditions we experienced in Lahore. The game could turn into a scrap, but we’re prepared to fight,” Santner remarked.
India has dominated the tournament, winning all matches convincingly. Since they have played exclusively in Dubai, they have developed a strong understanding of how to handle the surface.
New Zealand, known for resilience, will rely on their pacers and all-rounders to step up in the final.
The Champions Trophy 2025 final promises an exciting contest between a well-prepared Indian side and a determined New Zealand squad. While India’s familiarity with the Dubai pitch gives them an edge, New Zealand’s adaptability and fighting spirit remain key factors. With both teams eyeing glory, the final will be a battle of skill, strategy, and resilience.
